RE: Ask Erik about Anything You Like

I sometimes crave heartache, is that so wrong?

you know what jas?  you should get with the group in the "left behind" thread.  you all have relative things in common.  i believe you crave heartache for the same reason many people cut--or in some other way abuse themselves.  i think that redirecting pain to the heartache type, alleaviates the pain from other issues you can't handle or that are overwhelming you.  another reason you may be craving the heartaches can be because you don't feel worthy of being happy and "heartache" is the alternative you feel you do deserve.  if either one of these is the case, you need to snap your ass out of it and see your worth.  picture jas as someone you met on here and look at all the cool qualities he has.  the things you think would make him a good friend.  afterall, that's what all of us have been doing with you over all this time. you obviously don't see in yourself what others do.

Wow. Thanks Erik. I believe you are right. Sometimes I just don't think about the right things. Where is this "left behind" thread?

it's actually in the "What pisses you off? What makes you Happy or sad?" forum.  the topic is being left behind.  it's fei's posting.

I currently have a 62% in my world history class. All I need to pass is a 60%. There are 3 graded assignments (test, paper, quiz) left in the semester. Today is the last day to drop a course for the semeser.

Should I stay in the class and hope that I just get above a 60% on the final 3 assignments? Taking the risk that I could bomb them and receive an F for the course.

or

Should I drop, be out about $550 bucks, and have wasted 3+ months. But, I would be sure to NOT receive an F for the course.

(Not specifically for erik, anyone's advice would be appreciated)

all i have to say is that i would be pissed if i spent $500 and 3 months of my life and drop it at the end and have it amoun to nothing so i say go for the D and pass and be done with it.

i agree with tj.  a D is still passing.  walk away from waste at any cost.  besides, very few accomplished people in this world got to be that way because of good grades.  go for the money!

Thank you both for the advice. I decided to stay in it and work my ass off to pass! Wish me luck :)

give them what they want.  the first law of business!  that's why i created this site and why there are so many forums and catagories.  and that's why i want people to suggest (in the suggestion box) things they think will help improve our site.  (notice i always say "our" because without all the players, i have nothing here).  this is a democracy.  i am just the moderator, here to make sure everything stays legal and organized.  but other than that, i'm just a player like everyone else.

try to fit in somewhere else.  in other words, maybe it's time you put down the video games, shut off the tv, and go out in the world to meet more people.  get involved in community events, go to parties, or just join a league of some sort.  there's a million people out there in your situation.  maybe you can find each other.  if that doesn't work, stop trying so hard to fit in to what others want.  In either case, the most important thing is for you to just be yourself.  if people can't accept you for who you are, then they aren't the ones you need to fit in with.
