I'm currently exploring the possibilites of anything after this life...however, at the current time I would have to say that I am 100% atheist.
No God, no afterlife, you die that's it, no spirits, no ghosts, etc. We're simply animals, like fish, cats, birds, etc. We're born, procreate (if possible), and die. Simple as that.
How did everything start? I honestly don't know. But I will take not knowing over "a magical being created everything" anyday. Just because you don't know the answer to something DOESN'T mean you make it up.
a long time ago in a galaxy far far......wait......in this galaxy, i was once considered "lutheran"(i think). but now i'm agnostic, mainly because i'm THE most indecisive person you will ever meet(or know), otherwise i'd probably be atheist. i am however open to hindu and bhuddist views, since they seem to be the only religion with any peace. the main reason being, as i've already mentioned in the other topic on religion, i want something/anything to happen after i die not just nothingness, because then what's the point of even ever being alive in the first place and what's the point of any life forms at all?
yea i believe in ghosts too. it would be easy for me not too though since i've never even seen/felt/heard or otherwise "experienced" a ghost. but, i almost actually want to, i'm weird like that.
"i want something/anything to happen after i die not just nothingness, because then what's the point of even ever being alive in the first place and what's the point of any life forms at all?"
Matt(JP) - This is EXACTLY what I am saying. I am for sure an atheist but I almost NEED to believe in something because, like you said, what is the point in living at all? It's not like you can take your experiences/memories with you once you're dead. I'm extremely open to the idea of a god/afterlife/spirits/ghosts/etc, but I just need some proof. I need more than "Just have faith and believe". That **** just won't fly with me. I really wish something "religious" would happen to me, that way I would believe, because life really loses its meaning without the possibility of an afterlife, at least in my opinion.
using your point, maybe religion was created by man just so we had something to believe in... so we could look forward to living and being good for that reward after all is said and done.
That's exactly why I believe it was created, Erik. We, as humans, need to believe we have a purpose and that there is something after this life. Hence, god is born!
