the wonder years

Just wondering if anyone in here has seen the show the wonder years from the late 80s/early 90s? I had seen a few episodes growing up and I just downloaded most of the seasons and have watched 1 and 2 so far and wow...i freaking love this show. It's amazing lol.

I've always been a fan of "coming of age" movies/tv shows and this is definitely one of my favorites. I enjoy all the episodes I've seen so far, but I just watched one at the end of season 2 that like, knocked me on my ass. "Square dance", ep 15...wow. I'm so emotionally-unstable now because of it LOL! Jesus...

So yeah, anyone seen it? Or anyone have any other good "coming of age" tv shows to add? (Or movies...if you want to make a thread in the movies forum). I also am a fan of Degrassi TNG and Malcolm in the Middle <3...

lol that show is great...i love shows that like, you can watch any episode at any time. some shows have zero repeat-value. while some shows follow a storyline (and that can be nice), shows like malcolm (that really dont follow much of a storyline, each episode is different) are great because you can rewatch them over and over, in any order.

plus, frankie was my first "crush" :D

Yeah, like...you and a lot of other people always talk about "knowing" while growing up...however, I didn't "know" until I was much older. In early elementary school I remember fantisizing about some of the girls in my class lol. It wasn't until 5th grade (when MITM made its debut) that I started to question things.

You know, it was the weirdest/neatest thing, to be honest. Like...people like you say you just always knew, and were always attracted to guys. But for me it was different. And that first time I was consciously aware I felt something towards another guy, it was such a different feeling. To be honest, I wish I could experience that feeling again....a combination of excitement/worry/confusion/longing/etc....a little bit of everything in one.

However, I never will again. I guess I'll just have to remember how it felt in my mind; luckily I still can, to this day...

I can relate completely. I don't think I'll ever use the "I was born this way" excuse because I don't really know if that's true. I DID have strong feelings for guys, but it wasn't until I was older that I realized how awkward and uncomfortable it all was; guys just don't make sense to me. I don't know why things turned out this way for me and maybe if they'd been different had something happened/not happened when I was younger, but I'm glad to be who I am and I'm glad to be gay.

ANYwho. I loved The Wonder Years! It always made me kind of sad and nostalgic watching it, but I loved the relationship between Winnie and the main guy (whose name I can't recall).

people can we please stick to catagories?  this is a tv only board and is open to people of all ages.  we can talk about this kind of stuff on "Anything Goes" or "Summer Camp", which i can block from little kids.

Winnie and Kevin! <3

You know what's funny though, while there is a lot of situations I can relate to within tv shows like "The Wonder Years"...the main aspect of boy/girl relationship (and how much Kevin likes winnie) I can't relate to.

It's just too bad that there wasn't a series like the wonder years that revolved around a main, gay character. How they came to terms with their sexuality growing up, etc. That would have been an awesome tv show :)
